He was the successor to Sri Sudheendhra Theerta at the Kumbakonam mutt and advocated the Dwaita philosophy. Mantralyam, formerly known as Manchale, is a small town, received by Sri Raghavendra Swamy from the Nawab of Adoni as a token of respect and devotion. Swamiji, later, moved the mutt from Kumbakonam to Mantralayam to continue his spiritual journey and worshipped the deity of Sri Moola Rama and Sri Panchamukhi MukhyaPrana of which he was an avid devotee. As history speaks, Guru Raghavendra Swamy is the reincarnation of the noble and pious king Prahlada, also an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu. Mantralayam, where Guru Raghavendra Swamy entered the Brindavan at the age of 76, has been a place of many miracles and is one of the most visited pilgrimage of Hindus.
